Welcome to our first blog post of 2023, it's a bit late but we have been hard at work refreshing our Sector Cloud lineup. Our current cloud is based on EPYC processors powered by HPE G10 machines, there is not really something wrong with it, except that it's rather expensive for the performance you get in return. Since 2022 we've been closely monitoring the AMD Ryzen CPU lineups and we decided to start doing tests with them.

This week we started with a closed beta for our in-house developed machines powered by AMD Ryzen 7950X, with 16 cores running at 4.5 GHz per core, boosting up to 5.7 GHz. Combined with the latest DDR5 technology (fully ECC, not just On-Die), rapid PCI-e 4.0 NVMes, and a 20G uplink. With these specifications, we are able to get much better performance per watt, while being much more cost-effective for us. This is a win-win for all of us :)

These machines manually build by our engineers and are freshly deployed in our new data center facility. Our Sector DSC plans are still based on enterprise EPYC nodes. Stay tuned for more!
